Peanut Butter and Fruit Poutine

Robert of Burlington says, “Kids love a delicious, healthy after school snack. When you mix peanut butter and honey together it makes your mouth water!  I could eat it everyday!”

This is an easy snack to get the kids involved in and creating with the use of their food imagination. Mix and match favourite toppings, like dried cranberries, raisins or diced dried apricots. For some added crunch try using your favourite cereal as a topper.

Preparation Time: 5 minutes

Cooking Time: 30 seconds

Makes: 2 servings 

Tips

  1. If you just feel like fries and dip, omit the drizzling step and coconut and dip your fruit fries into the peanut butter mixture.

Ingredients

Apple 

1

Pear

1

Ground cinnamon
 

Pinch

Peanut, soy or other nut butter  

1/3 cup (75 mL)

Liquid honey

1 Tbsp (15 mL) 

Unsweetened flaked coconut or crushed peanuts   

2 Tbsp (30 mL) 

Directions

  1. Cut the apple and pear into long strips to resemble fries and place on large plate. Sprinkle with cinnamon.
  2. In a small microwaveable bowl, heat peanut butter and honey for 30 seconds or until melted. Stir until smooth and drizzle over “fries”.
  3. Sprinkle with coconut and serve.
